CPTSD nightmares aren't always flashbacks of your trauma. Sometimes they're flashbacks of the emotions you felt while surviving your trauma.  -@emilee_with3es

I rarely have flashback nightmares. But I do have emotional nightmares.

Ones where I’m screaming and punching my abuser with both fists over and over and over again. And just yelling at the top of my lungs in his face.

There is so much •a•n•g•e•r• and resentment in those nightmares. And I usually wake up feeling scared and unsafe and unprotected.

The Thought Process Behind Naming This Blog & How to Actually Say It

Hi! I'm Emilee, and my brain works in remarkable ways. Click to read my About Meee page. This is my 3rd or 4th day of adding content to this first, quintessential blog post. Mostly my ADD is to blame for that, as you might have guessed.

But I also had to stop writing mid-morning earlier today to make it to my therapy appointment on time. Still processing that ongoing childhood trauma on a weekly basis, so I guess we could blame my PTSD as well for the belabored click of the Publish-button.

I know it's definitely not PMDD's fault! I'm in a good week! And if you're a fellow lady of pre-menstrual dysphoria (or have a partner who is), you know exactly what I mean by that.

    A  Note  from  Emilee:

    Hey all! I hope if you've read this far that you've also read my About Mee page.

    I am writing this note to say that I will use the following terms somewhat interchangeably throughout my writing, even though I do acknowledge their distinct differences:
      1.  PTSD / C-PTSD
      2.  ADD / ADHD

    I am diagnosed with C-PTSD and ADD, which basically means my PTSD symptoms are more 'C'omplex than the average PTSD patient's, and I'm not 'H'yperactive; I just have an attention deficit.

    However, the more commonplace terms are PTSD and ADHD. They are seen/heard/read about more,  as opposed to their counterparts.

    So, if I don't need to make any specific  differentiations pertinent to the discussion about my symptoms of either C-PTSD &/or ADD, I may use 'ADHD' and 'PTSD' instead as blanket terms that should be interpreted as ways of also referencing my actual diagnoses.

    If you have a concern about this, please, by all means, contact me and let me know,

    The last thing I want is to offend someone with insensitive language, and I'd love to hear your perspective.
